The Benefits of this in regard to oral and overall health, are huge. Using Organic Coconut Oil for this practice is recommended, because of the lovely sweet taste and the added bonus that coconut has it’s own wonderful health benefits.
Can Anyone do it?
It is perfectly safe, for anyone over the age of 5 years old to make this part of their daily routine, although the older the better, as a child may try to swallow the oil.
How to do it?
It is best done in the morning, before eating, drinking or brushing your teeth. Take a tablespoon full of oil (A teaspoon for children) and start swishing it around your mouth. This must be done for 20 minutes, if this seems like a long time, then do it while you shower, read the newspaper or get dressed and the time will go quicker.
Be sure to pull the oil through your teeth, to reach all of the cavities in your mouth. As you swish, the oil will begin to feel more watery, this is normal, and is because the oil is mixing with your saliva. Near the end of this process, you may notice the oil starting to take on a white colour, don’t worry, this is the oil absorbing the toxins and completely normal.
When the time is up, spit the oil in to the bin, rinse your mouth with warm water and continue with your dental care routine as normal, Don’t ever swallow the oil, as it will contain the harmful toxins that have been drawn out of the body.
Although almost any oil can be used for this, many people prefer the nicer taste of coconut oil. That is not the only benefit. Coconut oil is rich in lauric acid and monolaurin, which are known to kill off bacteria, viruses and fungi. It is completely natural and does not contain additives, preservatives or dangerous chemicals. Coconut oil is used daily by the healthiest people in the world.
